Discover Open Road Card: A Review,

Discover Open Road card is a gas credit card with all the benefits of the major credit cards offered by Discover including the financial education system, fraud protection, and 0% APR for the first year of card ownership.

Cash back benefits

The tagline for the card reads save on driving, dining and everything else. The card benefits live up to their advertising as you earn cash on all your purchases. If you make purchases at the company Discover.com website where you can purchase items from mainstream retailers you earn up to 20% in cash back bonuses. There is a 2% cash back bonus for the first $250 you spend using the card for gas and for restaurant purchases. For every other purchase you automatically earn 1% in an unlimited cash back bonus once you have spent $3,000 in total annual purchases with your card. For the first $3,000 in purchases you earn .25%. Discover also offers specified category purchases which you have to sign up for where you can earn up to 5% in cash back bonuses. One odd restriction is for purchases made at warehouse and certain discount stores which do not count toward your total annual purchases in bonus point eligibility. There are no expiration dates for bonuses but you must maintain your credit card account in good standing or bonus points can be forfeited.

Zero percent APR for 12 months

Discover is offering a zero percent introductory offer for purchases and for balance transfers the first year with card membership to their Discover Open Road card. When the introductory period is over your APR rate is based on your creditworthiness but will most likely range from 11.99% to 20.99%. The APR rate will rise to 16.99% to 25.99% if you make a late payment on your monthly balance and that rate could stay on your account indefinitely.

When you get an Open Road credit card from Discover and make your first purchase you now receive a $150.00 restaurant gift card from restaurant.com.
