Most Popular Discover Credit Cards:
The Discover More card is a cashback reward card, while the Discover Open Road Card rewards customers who mainly use their card for buying gas. The Miles by Discover Card is aimed at travellers and young people starting out in life can opt for the Discover Student Card to help them build up a credit rating.
Cashback Offers:
From October to December this year customers with a Discover More card can earn up to 5% cashback bonus on up to $300 in purchases. Restaurants, clothing and department store purchases are covered. All other purchases receive a 1% cashback bonus. There is no annual fee payable for the Discover More Card and an introductory rate of 0% APR for 15 months on purchases is also part of the deal. After that period the APR ranges from 11.99% to 19.99% depending on creditworthiness at the time of signing up. There is, however, a balance transfer fee of 3% for each balance transferred until 1.10.2012.
The Discover Open Road card offers a double cashback bonus on the first $250 spend on gas purchases at gas stations and restaurants every month with an additional 1% on all other purchases made. There is a 0% APR introductory rate for 15 months on purchases, after that the rate rises to the same rate as for the Discover More Card.
The Discover Motiva Card offers cash rewards for paying your bill on time, an amount equal to 5% of the interest charges plus an additional 1% on all purchases. The introductory APR rate is 3.99% for 15 months, after which it rises to the standard rate as per above.
The Discover Student Card has a limited cashback reward scheme of up to 5% in certain categories that are changed every so often. Cashback can be earned on travel, groceries and gas for example with an additional 1% cashback on other purchases. The introductory APR on purchases is 0% for 9 months, after which the standard rate of 12.99% to 19.99% applies. Balance transfers are not allowed with this card.
The cards that have a “limited” cashback scheme, have categories that change quarterly throughout the year, from which customers can choose to earn points. One quarter this offer might be for travel and restaurants, while at another time of the year the offer might be for home and fashion purchases.
