Chase Sapphire Card Review
The Chase Sapphire card is one of the most popular credit cards due to the travel benefits. If you love to travel or have to travel for work you might want to consider a Chase Sapphire card. Chase offers two credit cards under the Chase Sapphire banner – the Chase Sapphire and the Chase Sapphire Preferred so don’t get them confused as their terms are different. Here is a review of the main features of the Chase Sapphire card.
Chase Sapphire. The benefits of this card are in the travel rewards for both hotels and airline travel. If you spend $3,000 in the first three months you receive $250 or 25,000 points in back in bonus points. These points can be redeemed for travel discounts, merchandise, cash back, gift cards, car rental or even cruises. The credit card issuer offers an Ultimate Rewards program which means you one point for every dollar you spend using the card. If you use the card to book airline tickets, or hotel stays, or at restaurants then you get double the points per dollar. The downside of this card is that there are no introductory APR offers for either balance transfers or purchases.
Ultimate Rewards
Chase also has a shopping site called the Ultimate Rewards mall where you can get up to ten points if you use the card there. Products range from music downloads, to gift items or to electronics like HDTVs. If you are interested in receiving cash back rewards you can receive a reward check of $20 once you have 2,000 points. Ultimate Rewards is linked to 370 retailers. Once you earn 2,500 points with Chase Sapphire you can redeem the points for gift cards to such retailers as the Home Depot, Macy’s, Banana Republic, and Pottery Barn. There are also gift cards to restaurants including Morton’s The Steakhouse and Starbucks.
Using the points for travel
If you decide you want to accumulate enough points to use to book an airline flight the Chase Sapphire card allows you to book a seat on almost any major airline without any blackout dates or travel restrictions. There is an added bonus if you use your card to reserve your airline tickets using the online Travel Booking Tool you double the points you would earn from booking the flight.
Additional travel benefits
As a Chase Sapphire cardholder you get access to a whole range of travel benefits including auto rental collision damage waiver, emergency medical or legal help while traveling, trip delay and cancellation insurance for any covered trip, delayed and lost luggage insurance. The best travel benefit of the whole bunch is access to a real person 24 hour seven day a week customer service.
Free management tool
Part of the benefits with Chase Sapphire is that you gain access to Blueprint the company’s free management tool that allows you to set up plans on how you want to pay off your credit card balance. If you purchase a big ticket item with your Chase Sapphire card you can set up a plan that will allow you to avoid interest for certain length of time for specific purchases. It is also a good way to monitor your spending habits.
Points don’t expire
There is no limit to the number of points you can accumulate and even better yet they don’t expire. So you can save up for that free flight to Australia without having to worry about having to use the points in a certain time frame.
No annual fee
There is no annual fee with this card. That is not the case with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card which has a $95.00 annual fee which is waived the first year. See also Chase Credit Cards
