Credit Cards with 0% Interest

Finding the best credit card can be daunting at the best of times. When every penny counts with a difficult economy it makes sense to carefully look at all your options when it comes to your credit cards. A variety of credit card issuers are offering 0% interest for introductory periods some for as long as fifteen months. These 0% introductory rates sometimes apply to just balance transfers but some credit issuers are offering them for both balance transfers and purchases made with the card. When considering a credit card with a 0% APR or interest make sure to look at the offers carefully. You want to know what the likely APR will rise to when the introductory period is over and not get surprised by hefty interest rates. Also look at any annual fees the credit card company may charge and add them in to the equation. It is also important to evaluate any bonus programs like cash back programs or airline miles if those kinds of reward programs will work for you. Here are some credit cards that are currently offering 0% introductory interest rates for you to consider.

Discover® More® card. Discover is currently offering a 0% introductory rate for both purchases and credit card transfer balances. This introductory rate is offered for fifteen months. After the introductory rate the interest rate will be somewhere between 11.99% and 20.99%. The exact APR is based on your specific credit worthiness. Discover offers 5% cash back for rotating categories of purchases and 1% cash back on all other purchases once you have reached your $3,000 purchase level. There is no annual fee with this card.

Citi Diamond Preferred® card. Similar to Discover More Citibank is offering an introductory 0% rate for both balance transfers and purchases made with the card for the first 21 months. The interest rate for the Citi Diamond Preferred card goes up to 11.99% to 20.99% after the introductory period based on your credit history. There is no annual fee for this card.

Chase Freedom® Visa. Chase's Freedom Visa offers an incentive of 0% APR for the first twelve months of owning the card but it only applies to credit balance transfers. For those not transferring a credit balance then the offer only applies to purchases using the card for the first six months of card membership. Chase is also offering a $100 cash back program when you spend at least $500 in the first three months of owning the card. In addition with the Chase Freedom Visa card you can receive 5% cash back on items in selected categories and 1% on all other purchases made with the card. There is no annual fee for this card. A 0% interest credit card is a credit card with an introductory interest rate of 0%. The purpose of a 0 interest credit card is so that you can transfer balances and/or make new credit card purchase at 0% for a period of generally 6 to 12 months. The credit card companies could not actually offer a 0% interest rate through the life of the card because such a venture would not be profitable. In fact, such an offer would likely cost the credit card companies money because there are costs associated with managing a credit card account. A portion of the interest rate charged is generally used to cover these costs.

0% interest or 0 apr credit cards are generally for people with good to excellent credit. This would require a credit score of at least 700 for offers requiring good credit, and a credit score of at least 750 for those offers requiring excellent credit. These offers are only extended to those with good to excellent credit because of the aforementioned costs associated with managing a credit card account. In order to provide quality account service, the credit card company has to be able to adequately manage such costs while remaining competitive in the industry. If a customer has a poor history of repayment, this would increase the account managing costs to the credit card company. This is why the 0% Interest credit card offers are generally extended only to those with good to excellent credit. Compare the top offers and apply below. If you have bad credit you’ll need to apply for a bad credit credit card. If you have fair credit please consider applying for the Household Bank card. This card also offers 0% interest with slightly different terms such as lower cash back perks.
